Exciting news! Our team has been invited to showcase our latest collection at New York Fashion Week once again. It will be a whole week with several events that you can join and experience a new fashion & jewelry collection with us!\u00a0<\/p>\n

What is going to happen?<\/h2>\n

New York Fashion Week, is a semi-annual event where designers, brands, and fashion houses present their upcoming collections to buyers, the press, and the public. It sets the tone for the fashion trends of the season and is a highly anticipated event in the industry.<\/p>\n

Participating in NYFW is a significant opportunity for designers to gain exposure, attract new customers, and establish themselves as key players in the fashion world, also allowing smaller brands to establish on the US market, which is worth to explore. It especially allows us to connect with industry insiders, influencers, and fashion enthusiasts from around the globe and build up local NYC connections.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Our New Collection X<\/h2>\n

This year, we are thrilled to unveil our latest, groundbreaking \u00abCollection X\u00bb. As futuristic and complex as it sounds, this collection will be presented in two parts, Volume I and II, as part of a special investigative project.<\/p>\n

Turtlehorn\u2019s Collection X repurposes polyester yarn residue, utilizing scalable techniques developed with the Dutch start-up Kinkleid. This genderless, size-adaptable collection merges streetwear with casual glam and futurism, addressing polyester waste, which makes up over 70% of textile waste in the fashion industry.<\/p>\n

Featuring colors like white, peach orange, purple, and grey, the collection uses innovative techniques such as\u00a0working with knitting techniques on industrial level\u00a0alongside traditional knitting and weaving to minimize material use. Inspired by Turtlehorn\u2019s 2019 \u2018Social Trash\u2019 collection, this blend of artisanal and industrial methods transforms waste into unique knitwear, enhancing both texture and functionality.<\/p>\n

Beyond sustainability and coming back into knitwear, Collection X challenges fashion industry elitism and superficiality. It highlights women\u2019s contributions, combating their underrepresentation and critiquing norms in an industry marked by corruption and celebrity glorification. The collection symbolizes life, harmony, and empowerment, inspiring women from all walks of life.<\/p>\n

In collaboration with German artist and jewelry designer Franca Ullrich of Frank Jewels<\/a>, Turtlehorn incorporates knitted metal yarn waste, materials from construction and overconsumption, and special recycled glass elements. Additionally, a transformative runway piece developed with New York costume designer Harleen Dimopoulos-Middelton of House of Harleen<\/a> delivers a powerful message about the industry’s challenges.<\/p>\n

Embracing diversity and celebrating individuality, Turtlehorn realigns fashion with environmental responsibility and social integrity, setting a new standard for sustainable and ethical practices.<\/p>\n

We are excited to showcase our designs on the runway and receive feedback from the fashion community. It’s a chance for us to push boundaries, experiment with new ideas, and make a statement in the competitive world of fashion. And this is how we came up with the initiative of \u00abF*ck Fashion Runway\u00bb.\u00a0It\u00a0is a revolutionary runway format celebrating communal expression and the belief that everyone\u00a0has a\u00a0voice in this industry. It unites avant-garde and underground-inspired designers to challenge the fashion industry’s status quo. Promoting ethical, sustainable, and socially integrative practices, it serves as a call to action for a more inclusive and conscious fashion future.<\/p>\n
